The AIOps features (ML-based alert grouping, automated noise reduction) are on Business and Enterprise. You're paying extra for what's become the main reason to choose PagerDuty over cheaper alternatives.
What it does well
On-call scheduling is mature. Multi-layer escalation policies, business-hours vs after-hours routing, overrides, and rotation management. Teams with complex on-call structures — multiple tiers, different pools for different services — find PagerDuty handles edge cases that simpler tools don't.

Automation Actions can run predefined runbooks when incidents hit certain criteria — restart a service, scale a deployment, clear a cache — without waking anyone. This is PagerDuty's closest answer to automated remediation.
The honest caveats
PagerDuty doesn't reduce alert volume. It routes it better and groups it intelligently, but the underlying noise problem in your monitoring still exists. Teams that mute their PagerDuty channel by month three haven't solved anything — they've confirmed the alerting setup needs fixing first.
